Gangways

Gangways are used to ensure safe and stable access between vessel and quay or between different maritime installations. They are an important part of daily operations in ports, offshore operations, and industrial facilities where high demands are placed on safety, functionality, and durability.

At Fender Service, we supply gangways designed for use in demanding maritime environments and adaptable for both temporary and permanent installations. Gangways are typically used during vessel operations, service work, loading, and unloading, where safe access is essential for crew working conditions.

Gangways are constructed with a focus on stability and slip resistance and can be equipped with handrails, steps, surface treatments, and safety components to ensure safe passage under all weather conditions. The construction allows for differences in height and movement between vessel and quay, which is essential in conditions involving tides and varying load situations.

All Fender Service marine hardware products, including gangways, bollards, bollards and other mooring components, are designed and manufactured in accordance with relevant international standards and recognized maritime guidelines for mooring and port equipment.

For mooring-related equipment, international standards and industry recommendations are used for dimensioning, material selection and load capacity, including applicable ISO standards and recognized guidelines for mooring equipment, which are used globally in the design of safe and reliable port installations.

Gangways/Gangways

Fender Service offers quality gangways made of high-quality corrosion-free aluminum.

The fact that the walkways are produced in aluminum makes them easy to handle due to their low weight, while at the same time being very robust.

Fender Service offers 3 different types of walkways:

  • SHALA (Shallow Angle Lightweight Aluminum Gangway)

  • Sala (Steep Angle Lightweight Aluminum Gangway)

  • Shore Gangways (Non-jointed gangway)

SHALA

SHALA (Shallow Angle Lightweight Aluminum Gangway) has angled steps in non-slip material that provide a safe working angle of up to 30 degrees.

The walkways are equipped with a railing made of rope, as well as a 2 inch hook to mount the walkway securely on a ship or other object. The walkway comes standard with heavy-duty plastic wheels at the end facing the quay.

SHALA walkways are suitable for angles from 0-30 degrees and in lengths from 1.5m to 12.0m.

SALA

Sala (Steep Angle lightweight Aluminum Gangway) is designed for easy and safe access between ship and quay, built for ships with "standard" hulls and docking rollers.

These types of walkways are suitable for angles from 0-50 degrees and lengths from 1.5m to 12.0m.

  • 600 mm free width

  • Deck load 4kN/M2 (pedestrian access)

  • Aluminum sections Marine Grade 6082-T6

  • Aluminum sections Marine Grade 6082-T6 or 5083-0 for light panels

  • Struts, shafts and fasteners 316 stainless steel

  • Handrails: Polypropylene rope or solid handrail

  • Non-slip walking surface

Shore Gangways

SHORE gangways (Non-jointed gangway) are gangways made of aluminum, with a long reach, steep working angle (0-50 degrees) which provides easy access from ship to shore. These types of gangways are suitable for lengths from 12m – 27m.

- Manufactured in accordance with ISO 7061

- Made from “Marine Grade Lightweights Aluminum 6082 T6”

- 600mm free width

- 12m – 27m length (DNV-GL type approved up to 27m)

- Non-slip surface

- Possibility of working angle from 0 – 50 degrees

- Solid railing

- Fits standard ship hulls

- Self-locking racks and polypropylene rope for railings
